Life with Lilly

We're coming up on 2 wks of life with Lilly and I just can't believe it! Lilly has kept us on our toes for sure, but we love learning about our little daughter. She's such a cutie pie and has changed so much in the week and a half we've been home. She has definite 'wake times' where her eyes are open for an hour or so, and she is beginning to be able to hold her head up when we have her on our chest/shoulder.
Seth has been the most wonderful husband through the whole labor/delivery/recovery process, and is an amazing father to Lilly Jo. He is constantly telling Lilly how beautiful she is and how much he loves her. Until Lilly is old enough to comprehend and know God's love for her, her view of a loving heavenly father will come from her earthly father. What a privilege and special gift Seth has. He's a fabulous father already and I couldn't be more grateful for him. You can often hear him calling her 'peanut' and 'sweet pea', and loves watching her while she's asleep and making funny faces. He has also been my number one fan as I learn how to care for Lilly - especially when it comes to nursing. We've had our challenges with breastfeeding, but overall, it's gone pretty smoothly and Seth has been nothing but encouraging to me.
We both agreed that last week was our favorite week of marriage. It's amazing to experience the gift God has given us, and we look forward to each moment we have with her (even the fussy ones!)

Jessica Meyer Photography

One day she'll be traveling the world taking pictures...but until then I'm glad Jessica Meyer is at HD and is my good friend. Here's a few photos she took of Lilly's nursery and Lilly in the belly.

PS - Lilly, when would you like to be out of my belly? I'm ready when you are:)

Birthday Celebrations

Friday I celebrated my 27th birthday. Seth and I had dinner together and went to a movie on Friday night and then Saturday we hung out with my family. Mom made lunch, I opened presents and then we bundled up and went out to Lake Johnson where my friend Meredith Railey took some family pictures:)
It was a wonderful birthday weekend, even if Lilly didn't want to share my birthday with me. We're still waiting for you Lilly Jo...
Seth spoiled me this year and got me some shoes I had been wanting, a big girl purse, some gorgeous flowers, and also taking me to Michaels for a surprise gift - a little rocking chair for us to paint and put in Lilly's nursery! He knows me well:)

I also got a card labeled "Mommy" that was from Lilly, along with a few miscellaneous baby items she said I needed. It was so sweet of her to think of me:)

38 wk update

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

well, my guess was wrong (unless lilly comes in the next 3.5 hours). lilly's birthday won't come before mine. oh well. it was a guess:)

had a non-stress test today to make sure lilly's heartbeat was doing ok and it surely was...praise God:) her heartrate was about an average of 140bpm. and she is definitely head down and LOW.

my bp - 120/70
wt - 154
forgot what my belly was measuring, but it feels big.
dilated - 3cm
effaced - 80%

dr's words - "in my experience, your labor probably won't be one of those all day/all night labors. you'll probably get in there and get it done quickly based on the progress you've made already. now that's no guarantee, but that's been my experience in the past."

sweet! we've been praying for a quick and safe/healthy delivery. i'm going to continue to pray that is really the case!

either way, we're excited and ready for her!
