last week i went back to my old office to say hello to everyone and let them see lilly jo and how much she's grown. while we were there, a man i know that works at HD took some candid pics of us and sent them to me...thanks gary!!!

so the pics aren't exactly in the right order...in fact i think they're backwards...but you get the gist...

so the day after lilly jo's first birthday party we had church small group cookout at our house.

long story short...there were about 12 adults and 6 kids at our house and i needed to slip away to make a quick phone call so i went into the back bedroom, having full confidence lilly jo would be fine and seth or someone would be playing/keeping an eye on lilly jo. i take full responsibility for what happened next...

seth comes in about 10 min into my conversation and asks if lj is in the room with me, to which i reply 'no' and he looks confused, but i assure him she's not with me. so he leaves and conversation continues...

about 5 min later one of the ladies in our small group comes in and says, "um, seth says you need to come see this right away..."

low and behold, she's gotten a hold of one of the 3 plates of leftover cupcakes that was on the buffet in the kitchen, behind the dining room table. she pulled it down and was on her SECOND cupcake. and let me clarify, these cupcakes were spectacularly red and huge! she had even gotten some of the fantastic foil down her throat, and praise God, hadn't tried to eat (or choked on) the gummy thing or tootsie roll that were on the top of the apple cupcakes.

we all got a good laugh and i learned a valuable lesson. never assume someone is watching your 1 yr old...

of late...

lately we've been doing a little of this and a little of that...jackman is having more 'wake time' and loves being talked to. he's beginning to enjoy looking at more colorful objects like the teething rings in the play area below. and he's now starting to sleep a little more at night, which i'm thankful for!

lilly jo is into figuring things out lately. she loves to work with these stacking cups and figure out how they go together (there's many more than the 2 below). she often spends 30 minutes at a time, at least 3 or 4 times a day, playing with these cups! i love watching her learn!

oh how i've waited for this day to come....
